As I look inside myself, I am reminded of the ancient practice of “soul searching”.

Of course, it doesn’t mean I am searching for my lost soul. The “soul” in this context is not meant to be taken literally.

Rather, it should be understood as the innermost core of a person - the very thread that weaves together their thoughts, beliefs, and values, forming the tapestry of their identity.

But, moving beyond the metaphorical meaning, what about the actuality of the soul?

Through the ages, the idea of the soul has been a subject of deep thought and discussion in philosophy and religion.

The mystery of its nature, origin, and ultimate fate has captivated the minds of many.

Some believe the soul is everlasting, while others think it is merely a byproduct of our physical existence.

Despite different perspectives and opinions, I personally believe in the very existence of the soul.

Soul to Consciousness

I am particularly drawn to the idea of the soul as the animating force within us that breathes life into our bodies.

The concept of the soul has indeed provided me with a way to understand why I am drawn to certain things and repelled by others, why I experience joy and sadness, and why I feel love and hate, among other things that are difficult to explain.

When exploring the concept of soul, it’s impossible to avoid encountering the concept of consciousness.

In philosophy and spirituality, consciousness is often viewed as the means by which the soul interacts with the physical world.

Our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are all believed to be manifestations of our soul, and consciousness is the medium through which these expressions are communicated.

I can imagine, if I gain access to my own consciousness, it can almost be guaranteed I will discover valuable information that could surprise me!

While science may provide some insights into the workings of our consciousness, too much still remains a mystery.

Nonetheless, I can use scientific findings as a basis for my research and combine them with the results obtained from reflecting on my own experiences.

It’s my job then to connect the dots and get a better idea of what’s actually happening within myself.

But before taking further steps, it’s important for me to develop a clearer understanding of consciousness, first things first.
