Dreams give us purpose in life, a reason to wake up each morning, and a deep sense of meaning.
Despite this, not all dreams offer the same level of inner satisfaction and happiness.
Dreams are dynamic, evolving as we navigate through life, and some may lose their worth along the way.
Recognizing which dreams are worth pursuing and which one are no longer so is not difficult. We just need to notice how we feel about giving them up.
If the idea of quitting doesn’t stir any emotion, the dream might be just a result of us trying to imitate other people’s “success” during our soul-searching journey.
Even if that dream seems promising financially, there’s no meaning to pursue it if it doesn’t bring us joy. It will only waste our time that could be used to pursue a more meaningful one — a dream that can truly make us feel like we’re living our life to the fullest.
On the other hand, if the idea of quitting gives us a moment of hesitation, a feeling that our life won’t be the same afterward, or a sense that our body resists quitting, it’s a sign our soul wants us to keep that dream alive.
I fondly call it a “true dream”, one meant to guide us towards destined encounters and lessons.
Since it’s a dream meant for us to pursue, I’m afraid there’s no way we can escape it.
Every attempt we make to quit only makes it linger in our mind, causing regret and self-loathing, which can extend to our physical well-being without us realizing it.
This is our body’s way of warning us about a wrong decision.
Our body cannot lie, and we know it well. We have no choice but to listen to it and pursue our "true dream".
We should not waste more of our time thinking too much, and instead, gather ourselves, muster determination, and overcome all the hurdles ahead to make that dream come true.
Besides, who knows what excitement awaits us ahead? It’s meant for us, after all.
In case things go wrong, we should bear in mind that it’s not the dream we should abandon but the approach we have taken.
If our actions turn out to take us further from our goals, there must be something we don’t do right. We shouldn’t give a second thought to changing the way we do things until we start seeing positive changes appear.
Insisting on the same actions while expecting different results is unreasonable. Such an attitude won’t get us further, even if it’s for something that’s meant for us.
Our fate will never unfold until we decide to change ourselves to become adaptable and open to possibilities, so that we can direct our actions accordingly.
