Having read what appeared in Journal #4, I observed that the message conveyed could potentially be misinterpreted, and I am here to straighten it out.
You are indeed advised to enjoy detours, but you are not told to lose sight of your original goals.
It's unwise to constantly seek out new detours in search of "better opportunities", as this will only distract you from the task at hand.
Taking detours alone won’t magically make you end up like Gates or Jobs.
Their success was attributed to many factors - their luck in stumbling upon unexpected opportunities, their sharpness in recognizing those opportunities as good ones, and their attitude of "seize it or lose it", to name a few.
If you have the same luck, sharpness, and attitude like they had, I’d say maybe, you can become like them.
That said, you also don't want to focus so hard on one thing that you miss other opportunities.
Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings. When an opportunity presents itself, grasp it because it may not come twice!
Bottom line: know when to keep pushing forward and when to switch gears. Trust your instincts and take chances without fear.
But most importantly, let go of your expectations and just focus on having fun! Because that's when the invisible path reveals itself much easier!
